What is Seven50?

Seven50 (“seven counties, 50 years”) is a blueprint for growing a more prosperous, more desirable Southeast Florida during the next 50 years and beyond. The plan is being developed to help ensure a vibrant and resilient economy, and stewardship of the fragile ecosystem in what is quickly becoming one of the world’s most important mega-regions.

Spearheaded by the South Florida and Treasure Coast Regional Planning Councils and the Southeast Florida Regional Partnership (SFRP), a unique collaboration of more than 200 public, private, and civic stakeholders, Seven50 is mapping the strategy for the best-possible quality of life for the more than six million residents of Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.

The plan is being devised through a series of public summits, workshops, online outreach and high-impact studies led by the region’s top thinkers. Seven50 has been made possible by a grant from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development’s Sustainable Communities Initiative.

Message from the Project Director

Dear Friends,

We have been granted an unprecedented opportunity to shape the future of our communities, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about what we are doing.

We call it “Seven50.” It is a unique investment plan that will help guide the allocation of federal and private dollars into the

Southeast Florida region in order to help ensure economic prosperity and the best-possible quality of life for its residents.

What is Seven50? Seven50 is a chance to build a strong, competitive, environmentally responsible and resilient region. Seven50 is our chance to work together.

Our region is a unique environment. Some of the world’s most desirable destinations, modern cities, inspiring historic towns and peaceful rural villages can be found here. Together, we will aim at leveraging resources and coordinating strategic long-term planning to drive competitiveness and prosperity and ensure a healthy, natural, environment.

Although Seven50 will be designed to ensure the brightest- possible future for the region for the next five decades, its impacts will be felt in as early as five years from today.

As South Floridians, we play a vital role in a new, global economy, and thus, it falls on us to preserve and improve the quality of life for everyone in our region.

Together, our seven counties, 129 local governments and public and private agencies, represent the fifth-largest metropolitan area in the United States.

Seven50 will recommend actions to enhance and sustain economic vitality, competitiveness, greater opportunities for sustained job creation, access to affordable housing, a better menu of transportation options, and more people-friendly, environment-friendly, places to live.

It is up to us. It is both our challenge and our opportunity to identify and implement those actions to guarantee a thriving environment and a worthy legacy for generations to come. Please join us!
