Florida Disaster Resilience Initiative Community Captains Take their Issues to Tallahassee

FDRI Community Captain Crystal Johnson (together with Pastor Velma Black-Smith-Dunbar, Ft. Myers) and FDRI Community Captain Lead Lawanna Gelzer (Parramore) stood with Panama City Hurricane Michael Survivor Janice Lucas in Tallahassee to advocate for their communities.

FDRI Community Captain Crystal Johnson (Dunbar, Ft. Myers) advocates for more Emergency Shelters, Climate Resilient Affordable Housing and Resilience Hubs on the steps of the Capitol in Tallahassee.

FDRI ally with LEAD Coalition of Bay County in Panama City Janice Lucas advocated for more Hurricane Michael aid for Bay County. She was interviewed by the Panama City News Herald in Tallahassee. 

FDRI Community Captain Lawanna Gelzer (Parramore, Orlando) is the first Community speaker in this Facebook livestream video of the March 12th event in Tallahassee. She argued for Health Disparities studies in Emnvironmental Justice Communites paid for by the responsible polluters, and to save the wetlands at the head of the Little Wekiva River (HB1263 / SB1772). These bills were co-authored by FDRI Community Captain Dr. Wanda Jones (Mercy Drive, Orlando) in consultation with her legislators.
